Delivering New Members for the YMCA

The YMCA is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  The Y has been in existence for over 175 years and now serves over 22 million members across the country.  In addition to the Y national office, there are over 2,700 YMCAs that engage youth and adults in over 10,000 local communities. Globally, the Y serves more than 45 million people in 119 countries.

The Y mission is all about connecting people to healthier lives – in mind, body, and spirit. Their programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of the communities they serve.  The volunteers, staff, members, and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to building stronger communities and being a place where all are welcome.

Deliverable

We lead campaign strategy, creative development, and full-channel execution across digital and traditional platforms for many of the Y’s we serve. That includes everything from digital acquisition strategies across platforms like Meta and Google, radio + outdoor activation, OTT, and print. We manage seasonal membership pushes, ongoing brand awareness, and targeted campaign cycles tailored to each branch’s goals, budgets, and community profile.

We were among the first to introduce SMS as a campaign tool for the Y nearly a decade ago, and we continue to lead those efforts in-house – powering acquisition, remarketing, and re-engagement through custom text messaging programs that are integrated with other digital touchpoints. Our creative team can also support paid and organic social, video, photography, and landing page content – all developed to move people from interest to action.

Results are tracked campaign by campaign, and our work consistently exceeds the membership goals set by the branches we serve. In fact, over 90% of the time, we’re breaking through those benchmarks – often with limited budgets and short timelines. Our approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the Y’s mission and member journey, and our long-standing relationships with our Y’s (some over 12 years strong) reflect the trust and results we’ve earned.
