BENSALEM— Rose Small, Director of Marketing for Philly Pretzel Factory, announced today the launch of the company’s “How Do You Dip?” TikTok Dance Contest. Participants can win one of two $2,500 cash prizes, in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the company.
Philly Pretzel Factory’s marketing agency of record, i76 Solutions developed the concept for a video campaign and associated dance contest anchored by the popular 90’s song “Da Dip” from hip-hop artist Freak Nasty. In the video, five dancers from Squad 76 (the Philadelphia 76ers dance team) bring the Da Dip to life along with Philly Pretzel Factory’s mascot Phil E. The commercial was filmed over two days in Philadelphia at Bud’s Studio , which has hosted shoots for Billie Eilish, Nike, Foot Locker, Wawa and Herr’s. Squad 76 choreographer Ang Bua put together the original dance routine that can be seen intermixed with beautiful shots of Philly Pretzel Factory’s dips and pretzels.
In 1996, American Hip Hop Recording Artist Freak Nasty’s song “Da Dip” charted at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was later certified platinum in 1997 by The Recording Industry Association of America. i76 Solutions negotiated and secured the licensing rights to the music direct with the artist himself on behalf of Philly Pretzel Factory. The video spot can be seen through an East Coast-targeted, multi-platform media plan that showcases the new creative to viewers across social media platforms, OTT (including Hulu, MLB, Xfinity Stream, Direct TV Stream, MTV, VH1, MSNBC, BET, CNN, Paramount, Roku, ABC, NBC, CBS and others) and text message marketing. Of course, the easiest way to watch the video is on Philly Pretzel Factory’s TikTok account, where people can enter the contest.

WHY DIPS?
Philly Pretzel Factory has more than 150 locations around the country. The staple item of the brand is a Philadelphia style soft pretzel, served warm, and available in various shapes and sizes. Though delicious solo, the Philly Pretzel Factory is known for a variety of always available and seasonal dips, that appeal to a range of flavor profiles that include sweet, savory, tangy and spicy. Over the years, and through a deep commitment to culinary, the brand continues to expand dip offerings. Dips have now become a signature accoutrement of the Philly Pretzel Factory experience.
Tangy mustard will forever be the go-to condiment that enhances the saltiness of the pretzels, and the brand offers four options: yellow, spicy brown, super-hot and honey mustard. Sweet offerings include buttercream, cinnamon, brownie batter and more. Seasonal options include strawberries and cream for Summer, pumpkin and salted caramel for Fall, and two new flavors cranberry mustard and honey champagne for the holiday.
The goal of the campaign is to highlight Philly Pretzel Factory’s dips. “We are hoping to create a halo of fun around the country, by encouraging people of all ages to enter this
contest,” said Philly Pretzel Factory Director of Marketing, Rose Small. “The lyrics of the song are the perfect base for a campaign that would encourage customers to try our growing offerings of dips. Changing the dips completely changes the flavor profile of our pretzels…we create a consistent and satisfying base, and then the dips allow indulgence across flavors from sweet, to salty to spicy.” Over the next year, a series of new dip flavors will be introduced at all franchise locations to complement their classic dip lineup. Strawberries and Cream, launched in July of 2023. Other flavors planned for future rollout include Cranberry Mustard, Honey Champagne, Coffee, Cookies and Cream, and Dill Mustard.
